Estimate ordinary UAE private-sector expatriate gratuity based on basic salary and eligible length of service.
Add monthly basic salary, housing allowance, transport allowance, other fixed allowances and any bonus. Subtract payroll deductions you actually owe to estimate take-home pay.
The UAE does not generally levy personal income tax on individuals' employment salaries. Other deductions or overseas tax obligations can still apply depending on your circumstances.
Basic salary is the contracted basic wage. Gross salary includes basic pay plus allowances and additional earnings. Ordinary private-sector expatriate gratuity is calculated from basic salary, not gross salary.
For a standard full-time expatriate private-sector employee eligible under the ordinary system, gratuity is based on 21 days of basic wage per year for the first five years and 30 days per year afterward. It is generally unavailable before one year of continuous service and is capped at two years of basic wage. Unpaid absence is excluded.
Ordinary expatriate employees generally do not participate in a UAE pension scheme. UAE and eligible GCC nationals may have mandatory social insurance contributions, which are not calculated in this tool.
ILOE is an unemployment insurance scheme for eligible workers. The standard premium is AED 5 per month for basic salaries up to AED 16,000 and AED 10 above that threshold, plus VAT. It is typically a separate worker subscription.

Use the same salary breakdown approach for employment offers in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and the other Emirates. Enter your basic pay and allowances, then subtract any deductions that apply to you.
Monthly gross pay = basic salary + housing + transport + other allowances + monthly bonus.
Estimated take-home pay = gross pay − user-entered deductions − optional ILOE budgeting amount. For most expatriate employees, UAE personal income tax on salary is AED 0.
The calculator does not automatically deduct UAE/GCC national pension contributions or every employer-specific deduction.
With no other deductions or optional ILOE budget, the estimated take-home salary is AED 15,000 per month, or AED 180,000 per year.
For eligible expatriate private-sector employees under the ordinary end-of-service scheme, the standard calculation uses 21 days of basic wage per year for the first five years and 30 days per year thereafter, subject to eligibility, exclusions and a cap of two years of basic wage. This is based on basic salary, not the full package.
Alternative savings schemes, domestic worker rules, free-zone arrangements and specific contract situations can differ. Verify your actual entitlement with the employer and official guidance.
When comparing job offers or payroll platforms, examine basic pay, fixed allowances, variable incentives, employee deductions, insurance, annual flight benefits, visa-related employer costs, and whether end-of-service benefits use the ordinary or an alternative scheme.
